Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior representative commented the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
